Hi, lovelies! 💛 Last week, I got my hair cut into a short bob and I’m obsessed! I was a bit scared to cut my hair this short, but just decided to go for it! This is the shortest my hair has ever even been and I’m happy with it! When Alejandro and I first started dating, he always said I reminded him of Amélie. After he saw the haircut, he said I look even more like her lol! Of course, I had to create an Amélie Poulain inspired outfits and makeup look!
Amélie (2001)
If you haven’t seen Amélie, here is a little synopsis!
Amélie is a fanciful comedy about a young woman who discretely orchestrates the lives of the people around her, creating a world exclusively of her own making.
I’ve always loved Amélie because she marches to the beat of her own drum. She’s a dreamer and hopeless romantic. Aside from that, her style is adorable.
Amélie opts for simple but funky looks. A perfect example of a classic “Amélie outfit” is a maxi dress with black combat boots. She’s also a huge fan of cardigans and blouses. I think her style definitely reflects Parisian fashion, especially from the early 2000s. All of her outfits in the movie are effortlessly chic!
If you haven’t seen the movie, you can watch it on YouTube for $3! It’s such a lovely Friday night flick!
Makeup Look
For my makeup, I chose an everyday natural look. In the movie, Amélie almost appears as though she’s not wearing any makeup. She typically goes for softer eyeshadow looks and pairs them with red or pinky nude lipstick.
This year, I’ve been on a pretty strict no spend challenge, especially when it comes to makeup. I did make an exception for a couple of newer products, like Urban Decay’s Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette. I’m so pleased with my purchase, because the palette is versatile.
It has both neutral and bolder shades. As someone who doesn’t wear makeup every day, I feel like this could easily be my go-to palette for many eyeshadow looks!
When it comes to my Amélie makeup look, I applied “Weekender” (light neutral beige matte) all over the lid. To deepen the crease, I added “Riff” (brown-nude matte) and “Good as Gone” ((deep brown) Finally, I lightly patted on “Smog” (coppery bronze shimmer) to finish off the look.
Afterwards, I added a little bit of blush and highlight. I love combining Milani’s Baked Blush with ColourPop’s Super Shock Highlighter for a natural dewy look.
Can’t forget red lipstick! To get that perfect red effect, I started with my fave pink shade from ColourPop’s lux lippies collection. Then, I layered a little bit of “On Display“ (bright pinky red) over the pink shade with my fingers. Do y’all like to layer your lipsticks for some makeup looks?
Amélie Poulain Inspired Outfits
Let’s talk about my outfit of the day! Oh my gosh — I adore this embroidered maxi dress from Francesca’s. It features a dainty floral pattern on the sleeves and neckline. The dress is airy and gives me summertime in Paris vibes. Also, I’m 5’3 and maxi dresses are almost always too long for me. This maxi fits me perfectly — no hemming needed!
To accessorize, I chose a pendant necklace that Alejandro bought for me recently. It added such an elegant touch to the outfit!
I hope that you enjoyed this post, lovelies! Have a beautiful day!
Have you ever seen the movie Amélie? What do you think of my makeup look and OOTD?
