Hi, lovelies! 💓 I hope you’re having a wonderful day! Can you believe we’re getting close to May? It feels like April practically flew by! Since we’re going to be saying hello to May soon, I thought that I’d reflect on the month and talk about some of my April 2018 favorites!
Overall, this month has been really productive. Writing for my blog, creating content, and chatting with y’all has brought me so much happiness! I also spent more time with loved ones, found new cool spots in town, stepped out of my comfort zone in a lot of ways, and….bought some really fun things along the way!
April 2018 Favorites
Potbelly Banana Smoothie
Although I’m a Chicagoan, I’ve only been to Potbelly once before this year. There’s a Potbelly’s near our apartment, so Alejandro and I decided to stop in and check out their options. We both ordered sandwiches (which are also really tasty!) and smoothies. After my first sip, I knew Potbelly would be a favorite spot for dessert any day of the week.
Their smoothies are creamy and light, a yummy sweet treat after dinner! Alejandro and I have already been back quite a few times, and we both always make sure to order a smoothie to go.
Bath & Body Works Coconut Colada Candle
This candle smells like the beach. It has a lovely coconut scent with undertones of banana and rum. April has been a pretty chilly month for Chicago, so I love walking inside my apartment, lighting the candle, and pretending I’m on vacation somewhere warm and sunny! If you enjoy sweet and soft scents like vanilla, this might be a great addition to your collection!
Aeropostale Cold Shoulder Hot Pink Top
Over the weekend, my mom came over and we went on a shopping trip. While searching through the racks, she spotted this cute cold shoulder top from Aeropostale and suggested that I try it on. At first, I wasn’t sure about the color because I’m usually a fan of soft pastels, but after putting it on, I couldn’t believe how pretty it was!
The top has a flowy hemline and its material is super soft. You can dress it up with heels and accessories, or wear it on a casual day out with friends. I’m already thinking of wearing this top to my friend’s birthday party next month!
Aeropostale Light Pink Peplum Top
During our mall day, I also found this adorable pink peplum top. Its delicate silhouette and button-front detailing immediately stood out to me. The top definitely embodies my style and looks great with a pair of high waisted jeans!
Tarte Quick Dry Lip Paint in Obsessed
This month, I visited my cousin and noticed she had on some gorgeous lipstick. It didn’t fade much after dinner and she only had to reapply once! “What’s that magical lipstick you have on?” I asked her. “You look fierce!” She told me that it was Tarte’s lip paint in the color “Front Row!”
After some investigating, I headed to my local Ulta and picked out “Obsessed” since its darker plum color fit my skin tone better. The packaging is pretty and fun, and although the lip paint is pricier than I’m used to, it’s been a worthy investment.
I like the fact that this is a matte lip stain and it lasts throughout the day…perfect for going out to parties or even dinner dates!
The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls
The Glass Castle broke my heart. I’m an emotional person as it is, and let’s just say Alejandro found me on the couch with a box of tissues next to me, along with a sniffly nose and tear stained cheeks. The book is about her experience growing up in poverty, with a complex family dynamic. Walls has a unique writing style and effortlessly transports you to her inner world. I won’t spoil anything if you want to read the memoir, but I couldn’t put it down!
Home Decor from Marshalls
Recently, I can’t get seem to get enough of Marshalls home decor collection! All of their trinkets are especially delightful. This month, I bought a table runner for our kitchen table and a faux succulent. Both of these decorative pieces have really brightened up our apartment!
I hope that you enjoyed this favorites post, lovelies! 💓 Have a beautiful rest of your day!

That candle sounds amazing! I’m a sucker for coconut scents 🙂
Aww, same!! I think my favorites are definitely coconut or vanilla. Coconut scents just make you feel like it’s summer and you’re at the beach 🙂 hehe
Exactly, it reminds me of vacation 😊
I think I spend half my paycheck on Marshalls decor 😂
Omg, I’m definitely the same way!!! It’s honestly dangerous for my wallet when I walk in there!! haha!! 😂
Today is Saint Jordi in Catalonia where they celebrate by giving each other roses and books, so your recommendation of “The Glass Castle” was just perfect!
I’m really glad that you liked the recommendation, Kalena! 🙂 It’s such an emotional book and will make a great gift! <3 I appreciate you stopping by! :)
