Motivational Podcasts to Listen To

After a long day, it’s such a treat to put on headphones and listen to your favorite podcast. There are so many motivational podcasts you can listen to for free on platforms like Spotify. When I’m working, I like to play a podcast in the background. It makes the day go by much quicker and I always feel like I learn something new after an episode!

I actually read an interesting article recently on Billboard. It said that podcast listening is on the rise! A lot of millennials enjoy podcasts and are changing the scene with audio listening. I thought that study was neat and quite accurate. Truth be told, there’s something special about podcasts. They’re powerful because one episode can inspire you to think deeply and reflect on life!

You can find a ton of amazing podcasts out there. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorites lately.✹

Here are motivational podcasts to listen to immediately! As I created this list, I made sure to add a good mix of popular podcasts and hidden gems. 🎧

14 Best Motivational Podcasts

1. Happiness Spells | Amanda Meyncke

This podcast is dreamy! ☁

Happiness Spells is literally a podcast about happy things. It sounds like spoken word poetry, which is lovely. The host recites a list of reveries about all of the beautiful aspects of life. After listening to an episode, you can’t help but feel happy and relaxed. This is one of my favorite motivational podcasts because it reminds me of all the little things to be grateful for in life!

2. The Clever Girls Know | Bola Sokunbi

The Clever Girls Know is a podcast for women about all things money! Their goal is to empower women to achieve financial success. Some of the topics include assessing finances, paying off debt, and goal setting. Wow, let me just say — I wish I discovered this podcast sooner! Each episode is relevant and helpful.

At the moment, I’m working on paying off student debt while planning a wedding and looking at homes. This podcast helps you feel inspired and empowered to achieve all of of your goals! I’d definitely recommend giving Bola’s podcast a listen.

3. Twenty Whatever | Sierra Schultzzie, Riayn Christina, and Paloma Malfavon

So, I found out about this amazing podcast through Sierra’s YouTube channel! Sierra is a fashion YouTuber from California. In her videos, she talks a lot about body positivity and confidence. Not only does Sierra have an inspiring message, but her videos are always creative and fun to watch. She’s also super sweet!

Her co-hosts are Riayn Christina and Paloma Malfavon! The three ladies are all charismatic and have the best energy together. You can tell they are good friends. Listening to the podcast reminds me of having a sleepover with all of your BFFs. There’s something nostalgic and comforting about Twenty Whatever.

In the podcast, they go over topics that any 20-something can relate to — body image, self acceptance, and just figuring life out. I tune in almost weekly and would highly recommend!

4. Nothing Much Happens | Kathryn Nicolai

This podcast is great! I’ve always had trouble with sleeping, so I wanted to add a podcast that can help anyone with sleep issues. Kathryn’s podcast is the perfect way to wind down before bed. Consider adding Nothing Much Happens to your nightly routine. In her podcast, Kathryn reads you calming bedtime stories and each episode is about 20-30 minutes long. She has such a soothing voice and tells each story in a quiet and peaceful way!

5. Food Heaven Podcast | Wendy Lopez and Jessica Jones

Food Heaven is a wonderful podcast by registered dietitians (and BFFs) Wendy Lopez and Jessica Jones. In their weekly podcast, they cover topics like food and culture, intuitive eating, and body acceptance. This podcast is perfect for you if you’re a foodie or wellness lover! I love the chemistry between Wendy and Jessica and their episodes are always informative, inclusive, and relaxing.

They took a break and recently launched a new project called Diabetes Digital. Make sure to check it out, too!

6. TED Talks Daily | TED

TED Talks Daily is an awesome podcast if you’re looking for general inspiration. The subjects vary from Artificial Intelligent to Zoology. I like that many of the episodes are short and bit-sized. It’s a nice way to break up your day and learn something new. My favorite episode recently was the “What if advertising was honest?” by Sylvester Chauke.

7. Ear Biscuits | Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal

I should note, Rhett and Link are my comfort YouTubers. I’ve been watching Good Mythical Morning forever!

But while they are two fun and goofy guys, they both also have a serious and deeply introspective side. You see that side more with the podcast. I love Ear Biscuits’ tagline: two lifelong friends who talk about life for a long time. They have a spiritual deconstruction series that they’ve been doing for years, which especially resonates with me.

Their podcast will make you laugh and cry. Just get ready for cheesy dad jokes! 🧀

8. Hard Feelings With Jennette McCurdy | Jennette McCurdy

I’ve followed Jennette McCurdy’s work for a while. She’s a poignant speaker and a fantastic writer. Naturally, I wanted to check out her latest podcast, Hard Feelings. I should note that the title is true to the podcast. She delves into feelings we may want to suppress. The podcast is heavy, but inspirational in the sense that all of these topics pertain to the human experience.

In one of her recent podcasts, she talked about how she schedules all of her regular doctor appointments in the span of a week each year because she dreads going to the doctor. As someone with health OCD who just turned thirty last week, I completely understand and can relate to her struggles, especially about the thought of freezing her eggs!

9. Baby, This is Keke Palmer | Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer is another celebrity who I’ve followed for a long time. (We’re talking Jump In days!) She has the funnest personality. Keke covers a lot on the podcast, whether it’s pop culture or pop science. Basically, she talks about whatever topic she’s interested in at the moment! As someone who finds astrology super fun, I enjoyed her podcast with a deep-dive about the topic.

Speaking as someone with a Virgo moon and rising…and a Virgo husband, Keke is SUCH a Virgo. And I absolutely love that!

10. Ologies | Alie Ward

I love Oligies. Alie Ward (who is a hilarious host!) interviews experts in STEM and asks them whatever questions are on her mind. Episodes range in topics…crabs, computer programming, clouds, reptiles, environmental toxicology, cosmology. The list goes on and on! I’m a big fan of nerd stuff, so if you’re into that too, I highly recommend this podcast!

11. How to Fail | Elizabeth Day

The tagline for Elizabeth’s podcast is “the podcast that celebrates the things that haven’t gone right.” The truth is everyone goes through tough times and down periods. Failure is a hard part of life. But I love that this podcast teaches you how to learn from and find strength in failure. Overall, she has a beautiful message.

12. Life Kit | NPR

I love the concept of this podcast. Life Kit gives you practical advice and tips about how to navigate life. Because being a human isn’t easy! The topics are broad like parenting, saving money, career advice, stress relief, and much more. I like motivational podcasts that are scientific like this one.

I’ve been trying to learn guitar on and off for years. It’s been difficult to stay motivated. I found the episode about how to increase your chances of learning a new skill and thought it was helpful!

13. Savvy Psychologist | Dr. Monica Johnson

If you enjoy informational podcasts, this is a great option! Dr. Monica Johnson is a clinical psychologist. She backs up all of her statements with research and facts. Not only is Dr. Johnson an expert in her field, but she also has a calming and open personality. Her motivational podcasts are reassuring and helpful!

She gives helpful tips for everyday life situations. The episodes go by really quickly and all of her advice is realistic and straight to the point!

14. Radio Headspace | Headspace Studios

Listening to Radio Headspace is the perfect way to give yourself a few mindful moments in your day. If you’re having a rough day, the podcast may inspire you to take a breather and start the day over again. I  took a theatre class in college and so I enjoyed their “mindfulness and improv” episode. I also think the podcast goes well with their app!

If I need a little pep in my step, I find that listening to podcasts like these boosts my mood and productivity. I hope that this post helps you find some of your new favorite podcasts, too!

Aww, thank you so much for your sweet words, Juliette! 💓 I hope the list ends up being helpful and you find a few new faves! I usually tend to listen to podcasts when I’m coming back home from work or while writing a blog post. That’s usually when I can just sit down & enjoy the podcast! I recommend listening to an episode when you’re about to wind down from the day or are doing busy work. Also, listening to a podcast on a road trip is super fun! x
