Dear Nick J,
Ah, you curly headed cutie, you’re every 2007 gal’s #1 celeb crush.
And lucky you, because you’re also mine! I mean, your brothers are pretty awesome but you have always been my favorite 😉 (sorry Kev and Joe, y’all got my love too, though!)
Maybe it’s the hair (which is still great by the way!), the fact that you play guitar, or write all of your music. I don’t know but you seem like such a nice, quiet guy from Jersey. And for that reason, you’re totally bae (was bae even a thing in 2007? When did that become a thing anyway?)
In other words, I honestly think you’re pretty off the chain (where are my JoBro fans, circa 2007 at? Y’all know what I’m talking about!)
I remember the first time I heard your music. I actually listened to “Hold On” before I saw your face, and I genuinely loved the song.
You know how people always say that girls only like guys in bands because of their aesthetic/physical appearance?
Yeah, that’s a load of crap. I was struggling with my self confidence back then and the way that you sang the song with so much passion interested me almost immediately. The lyrics helped me “hold on” during those scary (and oh-so cringe-worthy) preteen years.
Then I watched the “Year 3000” video with my cousin and saw you strumming on your guitar.
“That curly-headed one. Yep, that’s my second husband, right there,” I told her. I had a boyfriend back then so he obviously had to be my first husband. I’d tell you his name, but I forgot it. (side note, 12 year-old Nunzia was kinda savage and I’m living for it).
I went to a couple of your concerts and I was so stoked because I had never been to a concert before!
My uncle teased me because I kept saying you were definitely looking at me from the stage (there’s that cringe again). Dear lord, this is embarrassing. LOL But anyways, I digress. The concert was fantastic! Y’all were amazing performers!
One year, I entered some contest for Honda. I can’t exactly remember the premise of the contest but I think I had to incorporate the “Jonas Brothers” logo with Honda. If I won the contest, I’d get a pass for a meet and greet! Preteen Nunzia jumped on that like adult Nunzia jumps on Taco Tuesdays.
My friend and I worked on that project for weeks but there were so many people at the concert and we came in way too late.
Unfortunately, we didn’t meet the cut off line and I was pretty bummed but kept the poster for years because my friend and I had so much fun making it.
I was there for Camp Rock, J.O.N.A.S., JONAS LA, the works.
(Nick, now you know I love you but honestly, what was the difference between those two shows? Lol). I jammed along to Lines, Vines, and Trying Times. My aunt only knew one line to “Turn Right” and sang it over and over again in the car (on full blast…thanks, Nicholas).
During my freshman year of college, I (ironically) hung up a sign on my dorm room door for a week that said “Mrs. Nick Jonas.” It honestly was such a hit because almost every other girl on that floor could relate! By the way, I don’t take myself too seriously, okay, Nicholas. I don’t actually still think you’re going to be my second husband (unless for whatever reason you want to be…JK JK!!) God, I’m actually writing all of this down. lmfao
All joke’s aside, eventually–just like you–I got older and grew up.
But don’t get me wrong, a girl can still jam along to some Nick J, “Jealous“ whenever it comes on in the car.
The thing is, you’re my childhood celebrity crush and there’s something pretty special about that. It’s that good, old nostalgia factor. Thinking about all those times when my friends, cousins, and I would chat about y’all, read J-14 magazine (dear god), and gossip about our crushes at school. Those were some fun times and I really love that your music was apart of it. Thanks for that.
And honestly, I still think you’re pretty “Out Of This World.”
Yes, I had to add that in for the last bit. It was there, it presented itself to me. I just took the opportunity is all.
I hope y’all liked this silly, little letter to my childhood celeb crush. Seriously, because if Nick Jonas ever read this, I’d be mortified LOL. Honestly, this post was supposed to be purely humorous but it ended up bringing back a lot of awesome memories I had with friends and family during my childhood years. Thinking about those times always brings a smile to my face. So, who is your favorite childhood celebrity crush? Feel free to share your thoughts down below! 🙂 I’ll talk to y’all on Monday 🙂
