Hi, lovelies! 💓 Happy Monday y’all! I hope you’re having a great start to the week. Wow, the weekend flew by! On Saturday, Alejandro and I went to his family’s house to celebrate his mom’s birthday. We ate at a restaurant called Lalo’s (so yummy, their chips and salsa are tasty!) and ended the night with a glass of wine. Sunday afternoon, we headed out to a family member’s baptism and did some grocery shopping later that evening. After a busy weekend, it felt nice to cuddle up in bed and I thought it’d be the perfect time to write about my nighttime routine! I really enjoy reading about other bloggers’ daily routines because each one is always so different! My nighttime routine is pretty simple, but I definitely make sure to get a few things done before bed 🙂
1. Drink a cup of Chamomile tea & write.
7pm. Usually, I start my evening out with a snack, whether it’s a cookie or banana bread. My anxiety is often times worse in the mornings and nights, so I like to unwind with some writing and a cup of chamomile. Writing calms my mind and brings me a lot of happiness before going to bed.
A few months ago, I was dealing with pretty bad anxiety throughout the day and my mom recommended Greenfield’s chamomile tea. Ever since then, I’ve implemented a cup of chamomile when I’m feeling anxious at night and would definitely recommend it to anyone who struggles with night anxiety. I typically add lemon and honey for taste.
A lot of nights, I’ll also check my emails, do some editing, and read your lovely comments. 💛 Y’all are so sweet and your kind words bring a smile to my face!
2. Tidy up my apartment.
8:45 pm. After working on some writing, I’ll almost always tidy up my apartment. Lately as part of my nighttime routine, I’ve been making sure to wash any remaining dishes in the sink, fold laundry, and fluff our pillows! I don’t know why, but just knowing that all the chores are done at night leads to a more productive morning.
Sunday is laundry day and when I was fluffing the pillows last night, they smelled so good!
3. Remove my makeup, wash my face, and brush my teeth.
9:15 pm. Taking off my makeup at the end of the day is just so satisfying! My favorite makeup remover is Neutrogena’s cleansing towelettes. I’ve tried other makeup wipes and removers, but noticed that these wipes seem to be the most effective for removing makeup residue under the eyes. They’re also super soft and gentle on the skin! After taking off my makeup, I’ll brush my teeth and floss.
I like to wash my face with Aveeno’s moisturizing bar. It’s fragrance free and leaves my skin super smooth and soft!
4. Take a bubble bath and change into my pj’s.
9:30 pm. Just before heading to bed, I try to pamper myself by taking a bubble bath. Right now, I’m loving Vitabath’s Lavender Chamomile Bubble Bath. Taking a bath at night has become a wonderful way for me to relax my body and soothe my mind. My nightly bubble bath is something I look forward to all day! I’ll play some Norah Jones or Kate Walsh and light a candle. Last year, I bought a Pink Champagne scented candle from Bath and Body works and it’s become one of my faves! If candles aren’t your thing, they also carry a wide variety of Wallflowers Air Fresheners! 🙂
5. Watch Netflix and cuddle with Alejandro & Ollie.
10 pm. Almost every night, Alejandro and I will cuddle up in bed and watch Netflix. Currently, we’re really into two Netflix originals called Easy and Love. If you enjoy wonderfully awkward rom-coms/dramedies, you’ll probably really like both of these originals! By the way, what are some of your favorite Netflix shows right now? Alejandro and I love new recommendations! 🙂
Two years ago, Alejandro bought me a stuffed Weiner dog (he claims that Ollie followed him home). I found Ollie in my dorm room chilling out with a card next to him. The card said, “Let’s play, let’s play! Also, Alejandro wanted me to ask, will you go to homecoming with him?”
I decided to name him Ollie because it’s such a cute name. Alejandro and I joke around that we should adopt a Weiner dog and name him Ollie. 🙂
After our cuddling session, we’ll usually end up falling asleep at about 10:30 or 11 pm. So thankful to end the night with Alejandro, he makes me feel comfortable and safe. 💓
I hope that you enjoyed my nighttime routine, lovelies. It was a lot of fun to document and also really relaxing!
