Get Ready With Me | Everyday Summer Look

It’s really starting to warm up in Chicago, so I wanted to share my makeup and hair routine with y’all. ☀ During the end of spring and heading into summertime, I usually like to keep it simple. Often times, I won’t wear makeup at all but some days, I adore a dewy and soft look. Last weekend, Alejandro and I went out for frozen yogurt — a perfect time to chat about my everyday summer look!

Everyday Summer Look

Skin Care

Before applying makeup: 

When it comes to skincare, I try my best to put sunscreen on my face before going out. This is especially true on sunnier days. My favorite sunscreen at the moment is Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30 because of its sweet coconut scent. It doesn’t feel greasy and has a lightweight formula.

Lately, I’ve also been loving Revitalift day cream from L’Oreal. It has built-in sunscreen and leaves my skin glowing. On relaxed days, I’ll usually apply sunscreen and moisturizer. With a little bit of mascara and lipgloss, I’m ready for the day!

Makeup

Face: 

Next, I’ll cover any blemishes and under-eye circles with concealer. I’m obsessed with L’Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer. It’s super bendable and easy to apply.

I’m not very into heavy concealer, so this formula is one of my favorites, aside from Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer. I find that the crayon works best for me, as L’Oreal’s liquid concealer feels too full coverage on a day to day basis. It doesn’t blend out as well in comparison.

Eyes: 

Onto my favorite part of the makeup look — the eyes! I usually go for winged eyeliner, but have been applying a small amount on my upper eyelids for a day out. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you’ll probably know that my go-to eyeliner is L’Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner. What are some of your top eyeliner picks? I’d love new recommendations! 

Since I only put on mascara some days, I’ll always look for products that add length and volume. Last week, I decided to try out Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara after reading positive reviews. This mascara is definitely repurchase worthy and lives up to the reviews! It’s waterproof, lengthens my lashes (no falsies needed!), and has a lot of staying power!

I can’t forget about eyeshadow. Lately, I’ve been using NYX’s Professional Makeup Eyeshadow Palette in Natural for soft, everyday looks! Such a pretty palette with a variety of neutral shades!  

Lips: 

To finish up my makeup look, I’ll choose a subtle lipstick shade. I’m used to wearing plums or reds, but find that neutrals work well on a typical weekday. Last week, I stumbled upon NYX Butter Gloss at Ulta and fell in love. I wasn’t looking for lipgloss, but had to try it out! Its formula is creamy and doesn’t leave my lips feeling dried out. I chose the shade Éclair, a pretty soft pink shade that’s lovely for a summer day!

Hair

I tend to cut my hair short for summer (usually a little above shoulder length), but want to grow it out this year! Throughout the years, I’ve tried out different mousses but always go back to Nexxus Mousse Plus Volumizing Foam. After a shower, I’ll scrunch my hair with mousse and straighten my bangs once they’ve air-dried. Last week, I cut my bangs and have been going for a Zooey Deschanel look!

Outfit

Time to dress up for the day!

A typical everyday outfit really depends for me.

Sometimes, I prefer denim shorts and a cute top. That day, I felt like wearing a sundress.

A couple of years ago, my mom bought me this Bethany Mota watercolor sundress. I was excited to bring out the minidress this year, since we’ve been reaching the low 90’s in Chicago! Alejandro and I were both craving some frozen yogurt, so I thought a vibrant sundress would be a great fit for my outfit of the day!

Trip to Forever Yogurt

This local frozen yogurt shop is a hidden gem in our hometown! I had never heard of Forever Yogurt before, but we passed it a million times on the way to the mall. Needless to say, we wanted to check out the shop!

I got vanilla frozen yogurt and filled my cup with gummy worms, peanuts, Kit Kats pieces, strawberries, and chocolate nonpareils. So yummy! We will definitely be going back soon!
