A Day in the City & Feeling Pretty in Pink!

A Day in the City & Feeling Pretty in Pink!

It’s such a beautiful day in Chicago today! The sun is shining and it’s finally warming up in the Windy City! Let’s hope it stays like this for a while, fingers crossed! In my “Going to the Sugar Factory” post, I mentioned that I’ve been exploring the city a lot more this spring and trying to find new spots. Here is my day in the city + OOTD post!

Yesterday, Alejandro and I hung out in the Rosemont area, which is a bustling village near the O’Hare airport in Chicago. We have always liked going to their local movie theater, but wanted to explore more eateries like the Sugar Factory. We ate at Maria’s Mexican Restaurant, which offers amazing enchiladas and drinks! If you’re ever visiting Chicago and craving Mexican food…definitely check out this spot!

Before our day in the city, I just had to take a few photos, of course! Shoutout to Alejandro for being such a great photographer, thanks babe! That day, I felt pretty in pink.

A Day in the City + Pink OOTD

My “Pretty in Pink” Vibe

Pink has always been one of my favorite colors. When it comes to clothing, I tend to go for lighter pinks and pastels, but have been loving hot pink recently! For this outfit, I incorporated various shades of pink and chose hot pink as the focal point of my look. At first I wasn’t sure how it’d work out, but pastels and lighter pinks ended up contrasting beautifully with a bold color like hot pink.

There’s just something about pink that makes me smile. It’s bright, fun, and unapologetically pretty extra at times!

Off-the-Shoulder Embroidered Blouse

When I first saw this top at Francesca’s, I practically jumped up and down with excitement and couldn’t wait to try it on! Although I consider myself quite an awkward turtle, I can’t help but feel kind of….dare I say it, sexy in this top! I adore the top’s dainty embroidered detailing and off-the shoulder neckline. Its vibrant shade of pink is also absolutely stunning!

Accessorizing with Pastels: Floral Purse & Bow Mules

Since the top’s hot pink color easily stands out in a room, I decided to pair it with subtler accessories. I’m a big fan of Payless’s accessories, especially their purses. This month, they had a great deal going on (buy 1 item, get the other 50% off) and I bought a Victoria satchel and mule style shoes.

I needed a new spring bag and can’t get enough of florals in general! The purse has an adorable pastel hue to it and the hot pink flowers matched perfectly with my top from Francesca’s! I love the bag’s creamy undertones and how much the floral print stands out!

Now, for these shoes. I’m. Actually. Obsessed. Growing up, I was never that interested in shoes for some reason. During college, I experimented more with my style and started to really appreciate a great pair of shoes. I don’t have anything like bow mules in my closet and wanted to style my outfit with something new! The shade of pink is very similar to my purse, and adds such a girly touch to this outfit!

Leather Jacket

On to my statement piece, a navy blue leather jacket. For my birthday, my mom gave me this leather jacket and it really brought the “pretty in pink” look together. I tested out a couple of different jackets and initially planned on wearing a brown coat. After trying it on though, I realized that an edgier piece would make the various shades of pink stand out! A leather jacket definitely gave my outfit a sassier look!
