It’s finally September. That means “spooky season” is among us! We often think about sending loved ones gifts on Christmas and their birthday. But what if they are a fall or Halloween lover? You can make someone’s day special with an adorable Halloween care package. 🎃
When I was in college, I remember my mom used to send me care packages. One year, she sent me a Halloween one filled with delicious candy and a stuffed animal. After a long day of classes, I was excited to see something for me in the mail!
The person you love doesn’t have to be in college to receive one, though. Whether they live five minutes or five hours from you, it’s a great way to show them you care!
Also, we often think of kids getting gift baskets. They’re a lot of fun! But fun shouldn’t stop just because you’re an adult. Plus, who doesn’t love presents?
How To Make A Care Package
Making a Halloween care package is quite easy! It’s also completely customizable based on the gift receiver. These are some good tips from UPS’ website on how to create and send packages. Generally, they recommend sending non-perishable items.
If you’d like to send homemade food, they provide instructions on that as well. They also say sending small, easy-to-ship gifts is always the best choice.
As far as packaging goes, you can find tons of options online to hold your assortment of gifts. I like these gift boxes from Amazon because they look sturdy and simple. You can also choose from a variety of sizes. For wrapping, I’d recommend something light-weight like crinkle cut paper. This part is completely optional of course and purely decorative! 🖤
Packaging Essentials Recap:
What about the actual gifts? Think about the person you love. What are some of their favorite things?
For example, I’d probably send my little brother chips, lollipops, a Spiderman shirt, and a toy car. It’s going to look way different for someone like my husband who would likely want a Sudoku workbook, chocolates, and a fancy whiskey set or something.
Here are some general ideas to get you started:
- Stuffed animal
- Coloring book
- Crossword puzzle
- Phone case
The choices are endless! Feel free to get creative with it and always go back to: what would make your person happy?
31 Spooktacular Halloween Care Package Ideas
Here are 31 of the best gift ideas for sending a frighteningly awesome Halloween care package. 👻 And yes….31 as in the number of days in October. All credit goes to Alejandro for that one. He thought it’d be the most fitting!
Nothing screams Halloween quite like candy. If your loved one has a sweet tooth, this is the perfect Halloween care package idea!
Plus, it’s nostalgic. Who can forget our good old trick-or-treat days after school?
You have so many candies to choose from. These are some of the most popular Halloween candies in the U.S. Some crowd pleasers are Starburst, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish, Nerds, and Twizzlers.
Ahh, chocolate. I think back at the classic Spongebob episode “Chocolate with Nuts” where the guy goes crazy for the chocolates Spongebob and Patrick are selling. 🤣 I’m personally a big fan of the sweet treat myself.
And you have so many to choose from. Twix, Reese’s, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Kit Kat, M&M’s, and more!
What’s a fantastic way to let the person you love know they’re on your mind? Including their favorite snacks in your Halloween care package of course! It’s a thoughtful gesture and they’ll have treats they enjoy to snack on during the day.
You can include things like: popcorn, chips, cookies, trail mix, pastries, nuts, beef jerky, etc. It’s all up to you!
4. Stuffed animal
Give them something cute to cuddle with! I think it’d be even funner to choose something Halloween themed. The year my mom got me a stuffed animal in my Halloween care package, she chose an orange owl. It was adorable!
I’ve picked out a couple of good ones you can check out. 🦊
5. Coloring book
For the artist in your life! Coloring is an incredibly relaxing hobby after a long busy day. It’s nice to just turn your brain off for a while and create a pretty picture out of a semi blank canvas.
If it’s getting cold where they live, consider adding a blanket to your Halloween care package. They’ll appreciate the kind gesture. A blanket is a practical gift and most people use them daily.
Personally, I have a few throw blankets and I’m still always happy when people gift them to me!
7. Crossword puzzle
This is a good gift to cure boredom.
We all have slumps in our day. A crossword puzzle can help keep your mind busy on something that’s not work or household related. I’ve mentioned this before, but my husband loves puzzles of any kind. It is truly a hobby of his and I know he’d appreciate a puzzle of some sort in a care package.
Ah, the quintessential cozy gift: socks. As kids, maybe we didn’t appreciate socks as a present, but as adults it’s great! I’m always losing my darn socks somehow. And fuzzy socks are always a gifting favorite because they’re fun.
There are plenty of comfortable socks out there. This is just a set that stood out to me!
9. Bath and body essentials
This is for all the physical self-care folks who love a good spa day!
Think anything essential: soap, bath bombs, hand sanitizer, body scrub, skincare items, and more. The list goes on and on. Keep allergies and scent preferences in mind. This would be a wonderful gift if you really know the person well.
I’m linking a few recommendations, but everyone is different so go ahead and explore!
Fall is the coziest season, so why not make the theme all things comfortable? PJs are especially useful to have for travel. Plus, think of how many adorable Halloween pajamas there are to choose from.
11. Microwavable goodies
Any foodie in your life would appreciate this gift in their Halloween care package.
You can buy an assortment of treats or pick from the foods they love most. Maybe it’s ramen, mac and cheese, soup, or Chef Boyardee. They’ll enjoy the ease and convenience of a quick snack!
Lighting a candle is an awesome and easy way to self-soothe. If the person you love has been feeling stressed lately, consider adding a candle to their care package. This is just a side note, but I recently found a candle brand called Pet House that is pet-safe. I love the Fresh Citrus scent, so I wanted to share!
13. Phone case
Another practical gift for your Halloween care package! You know they’ll get good use out of a phone case. And you can choose a style that fits their personality. Whether they are an Android or iPhone user, you have a plethora of options.
I think stickers would be a wholesome addition to any care package. It’s also a unique idea! This would be especially nice for a person who loves all things stationery.
I know I’d be happy to see stickers in my Halloween care package. I like sticking them in my journals and agenda books!
15. Yearly Planner
It’s getting to be the end of the year come Halloween.
So why not help them plan ahead with a yearly planner? I’m not a fan of rushing things, but for some reason calendar shopping is stressful around New Years! This way they’ll have their desk essential ready if they use planners often.
Lotion is another amazing gift to show someone you care. After all, we need lotion most during cold weather when our hands get dry. They’ll think it’s sweet that you’re looking out for them. This one from Burt’s Bees looks good!
Is your loved one a reader? Send them a new book or magazine! They’ll be super happy! For books, I heard The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches byis supposed to be a fun novel. It’s certainly on my to-read list. There’s no better time to read a book about witches than during spooky season.
As far as magazines go, flipping through National Geographic would be interesting!
18. Halloween Movies
You can get creative with this one! If they have a DVD player, go with that for a nostalgic experience. If not, buy them an Amazon gift card. Stick a note in the care package and say something like “For a Halloween movie on me!”
If you’re looking for something spooky, I recommend movies like Halloween, Child’s Play, The Conjuring, and Psycho.
What about more family-friendly options? Halloween Town, It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and Ghostbusters are solid picks!
It’s sweater weather time! Get them something cozy and wearable for their everyday routine. I love these sweaters from the GAP!
20. Sheet masks
Sheet masks are a nice way to unwind after a hectic day or week. The ones from FACETORY look really high-quality and you can get them at Target as well. I like this pack of five!
We don’t always have the time or energy to dress up on Halloween. I actually didn’t wear one in years up until recently.
But if they still want to be festive without as much effort, get them a cute themed T-Shirt! They can wear it with leggings or jeans on Halloween.
22. Tea assortments
Another perfect gift to give someone during fall is tea! A hot cup of tea is the best beverage to sip on as the colder seasons approach. You can buy them an assortment of tea bags so they have a lot of options.
I’m obsessed with this cute tumbler and the adorable ghosts print! It looks high-quality as well and has good reviews.
Is your loved one a fashionista? Think about putting jewelry in their Halloween care package. You can’t go wrong with a pair of simple hoops or a necklace. You can even pick out something fall or Halloween-themed. This would be especially cute if their birthday is sometime in September, October, or November. You can get them something with their birthstone on it!
A cute mug is always a classic gift! I love this witch mug because it reminds me of Hocus Pocus. Also, I think cheesy knick knacks make great gifts. You can choose something like a pumpkin, ghost, cat, or Disney theme.
26. Halloween Décor
Help them get festive with some Halloween decor! For example, this Snoopy figurine is adorable. It’s goofy and will likely put a smile on their face. I’m also loving this “It’s Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus” decorative piece.
27. Notebook and pens
I LOVE this dog patterned notebook. It’s super sweet and fun! 🐶 And who doesn’t need more pens?
28. Card games
Of course I’m going to suggest UNO! The most fun and convenient game to play when you’re on-the-go or bored.
29. Gift Card
You can choose from tons of retailers…Target, Walmart, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble. Or there’s always a gift card to their favorite restaurant for a nice dinner. Starbucks is always my go-to, personally!
30. Scarf and gloves
Necessities for a brisk fall day! 🍁
31. Handwritten note
Last but not least, a handwritten note. They’ll feel special and important in your life with this meaningful gesture. And they will have the best Halloween ever! 😍
