The other week, I was helping my grandma clean up her basement. She kept a lot of items from our old house and also my childhood bedroom. We found so many of my things, like books, report cards, photos, and mementos from years past. After giggling at a few photos (including a picture of 3-year-old me holding a Barney stuffed animal), I found my old diary entries!
OMG, let’s just say I was super excited to go back and read these entries.
Funny enough, I remembered so much of what I wrote about back then. If I closed my eyes, I could actually see myself in my old bedroom, jotting down my thoughts with one of those awesome multicolor pens. If you are a 90s kid, you know exactly what I’m talking about!!
Looking back at the dates, I realized that this was my diary from 2004. This means I was 10 years old and in 5th grade. I still remember that school year — I had an awesome homeroom teacher, played outside with friends, and was obsessed with Build-a-Bear.
I dug up a few of my favorite diary entries, so that I could share them with y’all. Talk about a blast from the past (and an insight to what 10-year-old Nunzia was thinking!) This is gonna be a journey…say hello to 2004! ๐
My Diary Entries
Saturday, 11/20/2004
Dear Diary,
Much better writing than in fourth grade, huh? 5th is not a big change. I love my teacher, but I can’t explain all the fun stuff she does! I’ve been in it for 2 months (5th grade!) Well todays Saturday. My cousins comin today. I’m gonna get a new bed!! ๐ Me and my cous have a club for chocolate and vanilla.
Love,
Nunzia
P.S. I gotta set up for the club, bye!
Oh my gosh. So, this entry is hilarious to me. At first, I had no idea what I meant by the chocolate and vanilla club. Then, I remembered that I loved chocolate ice cream when I was little. My little cousin, Vanessa (who is 5 years younger than me) loved vanilla ice cream. Of course, we had to make a club dedicated to our favorite ice cream flavors! ๐ฆ
We used to hold our club meetings in my basement. I think I was the president of the club (and we even had a mini chalkboard for our talking points and reminders) LOL!
P.S. I guess I was really impressed by my own handwriting! ๐

Dear Diary,
Guess what?! Vaness is coming to Build a Bear with me! I gotta wait for her though. It’s 11:39 am and I gotta pick her up at 12 noon. I’m wearing a new top! It’s real pretty. I’m gonna eat nokies with Vaness before we go to Darvin. I’m getting a new full sized bed! Isn’t that great!? Don’t you think Adris is so cute!? I love her and, also Vanessa. She’s fun! Now it’s 11:43. I’m so anxcious! Isn’t it weird that I like Vanessa and she’s five! Hold on, they shortened the time to 11:50! Thanks for keeping me busy,
LOVE,
Nunzia
Told you I was obsessed with Build-a-Bear! So, my cousins and I were all going to Build-a-Bear that day and I was super pumped about that event. Side note, growing up, I was (and still am) extremely close to my cousins. They’re like my sisters, since I grew up as an only child. They’d come over to my house pretty much every week, and that was always the highlight of my day!
We were going to eat gnocchi. Little Nunzia thought it was spelled ‘nokies,’ but close enough!
The best part of this entry is that I said it was weird that I liked Vanessa, since she was only 5. I guess she was cool enough to hang out with LOL! Also, I was counting down the minutes to when they were going to get to our house (precious haha).
I have a distinct memory of getting a new full sized bed that year and being really excited about it for some reason. Honestly, it was pretty cool.

Dear Diary,
I’m listening to Christmas music. School was good. I gotta 95% A on my math test!! ๐ Tomorrows Thanksgivin! I’m gonna get stuffed! Vaness and Adri’s is comin over. I just finished eating hot dogs and soup. Oh yeh, and I got my new bed, so my room isn’t that empty. It was snowing today. I had to put my big coat with the scarf and mittens. I’m gonna read a book to Non and I got another book I really want to read now.
Love,
Nunzia
Woohoo, I got a 95% on my math test! Honestly, my math grades would get lower as the years continued (I HATE MATH!!! ๐)
Diary entries like this make me a bit emotional — I can picture the memory very clearly. You know those little moments in life that surprise you? Like, you remember them more than bigger events?
This is that kind of memory for me. I do remember reading to my grandma that night. Also, the snow was so pretty that day. I couldn’t help but admire the winter wonderland outside as I wrote in my diary. My grandma and mom were already preparing for the holiday. I could also hear my grandpa watching TV in the background.
The cozy house was full and I felt completely happy in that moment.

Dear Diary,
Im sorry! I didn’t write to you in so long! Okay. I never want to forget this day! All we did in math was do a worksheet. My homework is in order, its the last week of school for Christmas break, in french we did cards, I got my secret santa, I’m student of the week, Im lineleader, I talked to [my crush at the time]. The teacher chuckled at me cause she thought I was cute, My book report is done, and we had a great dinner ahh! Loved today, lucky day yay!
Love,
Nunzia
P.S. My coffee tastes great!
Well, I had to include this in my diary entries since 10-year-old me really wanted to remember December 13, 2004!
It does sound like a pretty awesome day, though. How cool, I don’t remember being line-leader at all — moving up in the world LOL!
Also, what was I doing drinking coffee?! A true Italian child! ๐

Dear Diary,
Wow! I haven’t written you in so long! Sorry I’m SO sloppy it’s because I just cut my nails. Do you know my room is full of Barbie?
Love,
Nunzia
P.S. Happy New Year!
I don’t know what I meant by my room is “full of Barbie!” ๐ Most likely, it’s because I had a lot of Barbie themed stuff — doll house, Barbie themed phone, Barbie car, etc. P.S. Was I the only one who still played with Barbies in 5th grade? Did y’all play with Barbies back then? What were some of your favorite toys?
Doing my nails was always so much fun for me. I used to also buy those adorable little nail stickers. (You know, the ones with flowers and smileys that you could stick on top of your nail polish!) ๐ธ

Dear Diary,
Bored, except I set up the basement. Gosh, it’s dusty down there! It got annoying after awhile. Nonna said I should dust it then. Its her house! What-ev-er! Well your probably wondering why I cleaned the basement. Well its because Vanessa is coming over today. Were having nokies!!!!! ๐
Love,
Nunzia
A little sass from mini-Nunzia, I see ๐
Apparently, we were also eating “nokies” for dinner again that day! Yay!

Dear Diary,
This is so cool! Kim and Ron, from the movie and show….fell in love!!!!!!!! They are b-friend and g-friend. Ohhh! Thats sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kim + Ron + in + ๐ + ๐
P.S. They kissed!!!!!!
Love,
Nunzia
Okay, so who else is a Disney Channel kid? I’m talking old Disney Channel: Lizzie McGuire, That’s So Raven, Even Stevens, Phil of the Future, Kim Possible and even those random cartoons like Brandy & Mr. Whiskers. ๐คฃ
I love everything about this last diary entry, because of how invested I was in Kim and Ron’s relationship OMG! Do y’all remember the Kim Possible movie when they finally got together? That was the highlight of my childhood, aside from the premiere of High School Musical and pretty much any Jesse McCartney album!
P.S. Thank you Disney, for finally making the OTP that we all loved and shipped official! ๐
Blog Updateย
So, I have a little update about my blog for y’all before closing out this post! I’m going to start posting weekly on Fridays and once every other Wednesday, starting next week!
As my blog develops, I’m learning that my true passion is to write about self care, mental health, and lifestyle.
Over the last few months, I’ve slowly made a transition into becoming a self care and lifestyle blogger. My hope is to help anyone who reads this blog. Because of my personal struggles with anxiety, the topic hits home for me in a lot of ways. Thanks to your support, I’ve been able to write about topics that mean something to me!ย ๐
I want to keep an intimate touch to my blog, though! For this reason, every other Wednesday will be dedicated to more personal posts from my perspective just like this one. You can expect lifestyle-themed posts like updates, date nights with Alejandro, favorites, fun lookbooks, day in the life posts, makeup looks, etc. Pretty much anything that’s going on in my life at the moment!
Friday posts will still cover self care and mental health, as that is the main focus of my blog! I’m so eager to share more of these posts with y’all, because I have a lot of new ideas this month!
If there’s anything you really want to read about on Wednesdays or a self care topic you’d like for me to cover on Friday, please message me or comment down below!! I love hearing from you!! ๐
Hope that you enjoyed this post, lovelies! It was so awesome sharing these diary entries with you!
Have a wonderful rest of your Friday and enjoy your weekend! x
Okay I LOVED reading this & how you organized this post with a little snippet of what you thought of each entry. Baby Nunzia was so cute & your relationships with your cousin is so precious. โก I knew right away you were talking about Kim Possible LOL I was such a Disney kid, too. They belonged together, I was so excited when they got together. โก
I have been writing in diaries since I was in elementary, too. I wish with all my heart I still had them but they’ve all been thrown away!
Looking forward to your new blogging schedule! โก
AWW, I couldn’t help but smile as I was reading your comment, Hunida! You truly made my day with this! ๐So stoked that we both were Disney kids, by the way hehe!!! I was definitely a Kim Possible stan back in the day!! ๐๐ Kim and Ron were basically my first fictional ship — loved them LOL! Totally agree, they def belonged together! ๐
That’s awesome how you kept diaries too. Too bad they were thrown away :/ Most of mine were too, I can’t believe I even found this one!!
Thanks so much again for reading about my silly shenanigans as a kid lol!! And for your sweet comment! x
Aw yay! SO happy I could make your day & put a smile on your face. <3 I love that we were both Disney kids & that Ron & Kim were one of our fave couples! <3
I wish I could come across some of my old ones but we moved so much when I was a kiddo, they're all gone. ๐
<3 <3 I enjoyed this post so much! Thanks for sharing!
I just discovered your blog and I love it! What a precious find as well! These diary entries are so cute <3
Oh my gosh, you’re so sweet!! ๐Thank you, dear!! x
Of course! <3
this is adorable!! thanks for sharing, Nunzia!
Thank you so much for reading this slightly silly post, dear hehe!! It was fun reacting to the entries! ๐
Hi Nunzia those diary entries are so cute! Memories !!
Love Ma
Thanks mom! I was so excited for you to read this post lol!! Love you too! ๐
So cute! I’m looking forward to reading more of your anxiety posts, even though I’ve never been diagnosed, I feel anxious and hold a lot of angst in me x
That means a lot, Chanelle ๐ It’s so great to hear that you’re looking forward to reading the future anxiety posts. I know exactly what you mean — I wasn’t diagnosed for a very long time and felt the same way. That’s why I have such a strong passion for mental health and self care. I want people to know they’re not alone and I want to hopefully help others by being open about the topic of mental health, providing recourses, and sharing my story. x
Oh my gosh these diary entries are so precious! It’s so fun to look back and see what 5th grade Nunzia was like! I love that there’s a diary entry for Kim possible.
I’m excited to see what you do with your blog going forward! Will you still be posting about fashion?
Aww, thank you so much, Cleia!! ๐ It was so hilarious reading some of these entries and definitely nostalgic. Seems like forever ago and just yesterday all at the same time! And oh goodness, I was very invested in that show LOL!
I’m so happy to hear you’re excited, yay!! I was kinda nervous about posting the blog update, but I’m so glad that I did since I’ve been working on the changes for a while now!
I’ll still be absolutely posting about fashion since I love it! On Wednesdays, I’ll be posting more personal and lifestyle-y stuff, so that’s where fashion posts will go like lookbooks, recent finds, faves, etc. I’m even planning an Audrey Hepburn fashion post this summer, which I can’t wait to post! Then any fashion posts on Friday will have more of a self care/wellness focus, kinda like my cozy winter outfit post! ๐
It’s so fun finding old things like that! I have some post cards my best friend wrote me in grade 7 & 8 and they are the most precious things ๐
That’s awesome you’ll still be posting fashion! I’m excited to see where the changes take you ๐
