Hi, lovelies! 💛 I hope you’re having a beautiful Friday! Wow, it feels like this week practically flew by. I can’t believe it’s almost July! It’s so hot in Chicago, so I’m ready for pool days! In my “If We Were Having Coffee” post about a month back, I mentioned that I bought an adorable new swimsuit at Target. Perfect for soaking up the sun! ☀️

One of my goals this year was to pick out some new swimsuits and post a photo shoot on my blog! I finally completed my goal, woohoo!! 🌻

I’m over the moon, because even a year ago, this would have been way too anxiety provoking for me. As a teen, I never felt comfortable in a bikini and avoided bathing suit shopping almost altogether. I was insecure about my body, mostly because of my smaller chest.

Now that I’m entering my mid-twenties, I’m starting to love my body for what it is. Moving to a city away from home, blogging about my life, and embracing new experiences have really helped me recognize my own self-worth. We are all glamorous and uniquely beautiful. 💗 Also, we get one body in life and should treat it with kindness!

If I could go back and talk to my 17 year old self, I’d tell her to buy that bright yellow swimsuit and have fun soaking up some sun, girl! ☀

Mermaid Vibes and Pastels

Ahhh, so this first swimsuit! I’m obsessed! Last month, my aunt thew a pool party and I absolutely needed a new swimsuit. Of course….I went to Target. My one true bae (sorry Alejandro!) After searching through the racks for a bit, I spotted this Sun Coast Multi Stripe bikini. I never owned a high-waisted swimsuit before this year, but it’s comfy to wear and pretty!

This bathing suit gives me strong mermaid vibes. The top reminds me of shells, which makes me feel like a modern day Princess Ariel (bonus points!) Also, I’m really into the pastel multi-stripe pattern. Very summery and bright!

For accessories, I picked out a patterned headband, hoop earrings, and a statement necklace to complete my mermaid look!

Blue Skies, Stripes, and Accessorizing 

When I put together the second bikini look, I imagined driving to the beach with friends on a sunny day. Maybe you’d explore the town, enjoy a picnic, or just chill out by the water with a good book.

I’ve been loving teal and blue-greens in general lately, and this Shore Light Lift Longline bikini would be perfect for a day at the beach. I can picture it now, sand between my toes as the ocean waves crash against the shore. 

To accessorize my second look, I went with a floppy hat, high-waisted denim shorts, and sandals. I don’t own too many hats in my closet, but I think this hat would also look cute with a sundress and heels or even jeans and a tee!

This photo shoot was so much fun and I’m thrilled that I stepped out of my comfort zone!

I’d recommend a swimsuit photoshoot for anyone who is a little shy and nervous about going to the beach or wearing a bikini. It’s such a positive and empowering experience.

When I looked back at the pictures, I felt proud of myself for trying something new. Yes, I may be an awkward turtle, couldn’t figure out how to pose, and chuckled as Alejandro took these photos, but that’s what makes me….well, me!
