Hey, lovelies!! I hope that y’all had a wonderful weekend! š During the weekend, I visited my grandma and celebrated Easter with family. Before heading out on Friday, I decided to switch out my winter clothes for spring so that it’d be easier to search for a cute Easter outfit. This made me think about sharing my top 10 closet essentials!
A couple posts back, I mentioned that I’ve been trying to step out of my fashion comfort zone, lately. Experimenting with style has been helping me gain more confidence and understand myself better. Although discovering new fashion faves is fun, I always seem to gravitate towards a few closet essentials. These essentials have stuck around through the years and definitely define my style!
Without further ado, here are my top 10 closet essentials!
My 10 Closet Essentials
1. High Waisted Jeans
Ah, high waisted jeans…my number one fashion go-to. Charlotte Russe especially has some of my favorite high waisted options for jeans because they’re stretchy and comfortable. I love wearing shorter tops and tucking in my shirts with jeans, so the high waisted fit has always felt right for me. High waisted jeans make it easy to accomplish a stylish day or night look!
2. My Grandma’s Earrings
Last year, my grandma bought me these floral stud earrings. She means so much to me and I love knowing that I’m wearing something she picked out for me. They’re beautiful, with a timeless elegance that reminds me a lot of her.Ā š
3. Leather Jacket
I can’t help but feel super bad-ass in a leather jacket! Maybe that’s why they’re so much fun.Ā šĀ I tend to wear leather jackets with jeans and booties, but lately, I’ve also been paring them with dresses!
4. Mini Dresses
I like to keep a few mini dresses in my closet for special occasions, especially during summertime. A classic little black dress is a must have! I can never go wrong with this simple but flirty fashion staple. If I’m trying to achieve a bolder look, I’ll play with patterns and colors. Last year, I found this choker swing dress from Aeropostale and wore it out on a date to Navy Pier with Alejandro!
5. Michael Kors Large Tote Bag
When I’m traveling, I usually attempt toĀ organize my stuff into one or two places. In college, I used to lug smaller accessories (makeup bag, laptop, etc.) inside a backpack but found it to be bulky, especially if I was already carrying luggage. Eventually, I saved up enough money to buy a large tote by Michael Kors. The bag is sturdy, and fits both larger and smaller items. Although the price freaked me out a little bit in the beginning, it’s been a worthy investment! I wear it all the time and now pack my things with ease!
6. Leggings
Leggings are a closet essential for any season! They’re perfect for a relaxing day inside but can also be dressed up. I’ll pair them with longer tops, boots, and knitted sweaters, a comfy but versatile piece!
7. Off-the-Shoulder Tops
Another essential that is what my mom likes to call, “very Nunzia!” My excitement for the off-the-shoulder trend goes way back! When I first watched Hilary Duff’s music video for “Come Clean,” I adored her white off-the-shoulder sweater and couldn’t wait to be old enough to wear one. Years later, I’m still in love with this cut! It’s feminine and sweet. In my spring fashion finds post, I even featured this striped off-the-shoulder top from Aeropostle. A new fave!
8. Converse
I don’t have many sneakers in my closet, but Converse are without a doubt my choice of shoe for everyday outings. They have such a sleek appearance and look fashionable with any outfit, dressy or laid-back.
9. Sweaters
If you live in Chicago, you absolutely have to be ready for winter temperatures, even in April or May! When I rotate my clothes for spring, I’ll keep a few sweaters hanging in the closet for a chilly day! Whether it’s December or May, I feel effortlessly chic in a figure hugging or oversized sweater.
10. Rings
When it comes to jewelry, rings are accessories I never seem to go without! Cocktail, stackable rings, they’re a gorgeous fashion statement! My favorite places to shop for rings are Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, and Kohl’s because of their affordability and adorable selections! Also, my grandma bought me a Pandora ring for Christmas last year and I wear it all the time. (I almost cried while opening the box. Thank you, Nonna!)Ā š
That’s it for my top 10 closet essentials!Ā šĀ I hope that you enjoyed this post!
