Hi, lovelies! 💓 Happy Monday! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend! The sun was thankfully shining in Chicago, which lifted my spirits. I took a few relaxing walks outside and hung out at home. On Saturday, Alejandro and I cleaned the entire apartment, cooked chicken and potatoes for dinner, and spoiled ourselves with a movie and ice cream. Since this was my first laid-back weekend in a while, I thought it’d be the perfect time to document my morning routine!
My weekend morning routine varies depending on what we have planned, but for the most part I’ll follow these steps! Although I’m not exactly a morning person–just ask my mom and Alejandro–developing a morning routine has helped me make the most out of my mornings!
1. Wake up and check my phone.
9am. During the weekends, I like to wake up slowly! I’ll lie in bed for a while and check my phone (if it’s charged!). I’m notorious for not charging my phone at night, y’all. It’s pretty bad! Alejandro and my mom, for example are pretty good about charging their phones, but I can’t seem to get into the habit! Whoops!
If my phone happens to be charged that day, I’ll almost always check my social media accounts. My favorite platforms right now are Facebook and Instagram. I’ve been a lot more active on Instagram lately and love interacting with other bloggers on there! Definitely leave your Instagram handle in the comments below so I can follow! 🙂
After making myself hungry by looking at photos of pizza or feeling inspired by a few OOTD’s, I’ll visit Facebook. Facebook is great because I can talk to family members in Italy or keep up with friends who live far away from me. What social media platforms are you enjoying most currently?
2. Find Alejandro and snuggle up to him.
9:15am. I live in a studio so he can’t be that far away. 😉 Alejandro usually wakes up much earlier than me (we’re talking as early as 6:45am if he slept well the night before!) Sometimes I’ll spot him sitting on the couch and reading or already doing laundry! How. The. Heck. Lately, he’s been studying for his data analytics class or reading one of his physics textbooks.
I’ll either hop on his lap or make a silly face until he notices I’m standing there! A lot of times, we’ll just hang out on the couch and chat for a little bit before getting ready for the day. Yesterday, we caught up on some Buzzfeed videos on YouTube!
3. Brush my teeth, take a shower, put on lotion, and brush my hair.
9:45am. If I’m not already completely awake yet, a morning shower will do the trick! I’ll also brush my teeth, put on some lotion or sunscreen, and style my hair. Some products I’m obsessed with right now are OGX Coconut Curls shampoo, Nexxus mousse, and Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion.
I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m really sensitive when it comes to shampoo and couldn’t find the right shampoo for my hair! I fell in love with OGX’s line and recently tried out their Coconut Curls edition. Will definitely purchase again! It’s affordable and leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny!
4. Pick out my outfit for the day.
10:15 am. After getting out of the shower, I’ll choose my outfit for the day. Recently, I reorganized my closet so it’s been a breeze picking out clothes. I can’t get enough of sundresses right now and picked out this skater dress from Forever 21! The dress has a flirty low cut neckline and beautiful floral detailing.
For my shoes, I chose glittery sandals from Kohl’s and kept it simple by not adding any accessories. I felt super comfortable that day!
5. Eat breakfast.
10:30am. Time for breakfast! On the weekends, Alejandro and I like to go out for breakfast. On Saturday, we dined in at IHOP and I ordered an omelette with spinach, ham, cheddar cheese, and tomatoes. My stomach is grumbling as I type this!
Other days, we’ll either cook breakfast (whether it’s eggs and chorizo or pancakes) or eat a quick bowl of cereal. We always incorporate some fruit into the mix, especially strawberries, grapes, bananas, or blueberries. I’ve been eating oatmeal a lot lately in the mornings, but also love Quaker Oats Life cereal. Of course, I made us some toast with Nutella! So yummy!
6. Do my makeup.
11am. During the weekends, it feels like I either do a full glam look or skip makeup altogether! Since I didn’t really wear makeup last week, I went for a bold wing and plum lipstick. I like to apply a little bit of Milani Rose powder blush and highlight my cheekbones. My go-to highlight is L’Oréal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator because it’s subtle and slightly glittery, perfect for an everyday look!
7. Enjoy my morning coffee.
11:15-11:30am. No matter the season, I have to enjoy some iced coffee before the morning ends. I’ll either head to Starbucks or make myself iced coffee at home! A couple of Christmases ago, my mom bought me a coffee machine and it’s come in super handy. I’m finally starting to perfect my iced coffee game at home!
A couple of months ago, Alejandro and I found a new coffee shop near our house called Perkolator. It has such a cozy atmosphere, great for writing or reading!
I hope that you enjoyed my morning routine, lovelies! 💛 A few posts back, I documented my everyday nighttime routine and wanted to follow up with a morning routine. it’s been so much fun sharing these type of posts! 🌻
What does your weekend morning routine usually look like? Also, do you consider yourself a night owl or morning person?
Talk to you soon, lovelies!!
