Hi, lovelies! 💛I hope you’re having a wonderful Tuesday! Enjoy my little weekend snapshot, featuring our day at the carnival, a random coffee date, and some yummy food! 🌻
So, ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved those on the spur of the moment plans. Luckily, my boyfriend shares my love for spontaneous moments. On Saturday, we didn’t have anything planned for the day. Alejandro saw that there was a carnival going on in our town. It looked like so much fun, so we just jumped in the car and drove to the event!
Weekend Snapshot: A Day at the Carnival & Coffee Date
Saturday: 2018 Island in the City Festival
Comfy Outfit of the Day and my first ride…the Sky Rider.
For my OOTD, I decided on an outfit that’s always comfy — jeans and a buttoned tie-front top! I knew that we were going to do a lot of walking that day and browsed my closet for a pair of high waisted jeans and ballet flats. I’m glad that I chose this outfit, because Alejandro and I went on a few rides and stayed for a concert.
The first ride I went on was called the “Sky Rider.” Even though I’m scared of heights, I had a blast! Alejandro sat next to me and it felt like we were flying!
Beachside theme
I thought the “island in the city” theme was so cute! The pastel colors were especially super bright and summery. It’s like we were hanging out at the beach! Alejandro and I bought some lemonade and just walked for a little while. A lot of people were sitting on the grass, chatting, and enjoying the day.
Playing games with Alejandro
After hanging out and going on a few more rides, we played some games. Alejandro was really focused and won me a little stuffed Tiger, who I named Orange!
The yummiest food
Later that evening, we were both getting pretty hungry and grabbed dinner. At the festival, there were a lot of food vendors, and I couldn’t decide if I wanted tacos or orange chicken. After some debating, I bought orange chicken, vegetable fried rice, and an egg roll. For dessert, we shared some fried dough. The food was delicious!
Ferris Wheel
Before leaving, we had to go for a ride on the ferris wheel. I haven’t been on a ferris wheel in years! Alejandro and I talked, laughed at a few corny jokes, and looked out at the scenery together. You could see so much of the town and it was really a magical little moment.
To top it off (no pun intended), I didn’t freak out about being that high up! I’d say it was the perfect ending to our day at the carnival! 🎡
Sunday: Coffee Date at the Perkolator
On Sunday, we didn’t plan anything again and felt like hanging out at a coffee shop near our place called the Perkolator. Alejandro and I used to have a lot of study dates together in college and coffee shops were always a must during finals! Oh, the memories!
Iced Coffee & Books
While Alejandro studied for his class, I read a few chapters of this book called Blood and Flowers. The book is written by Penny Blubaugh, and it is a fantasy fiction novel! When I was younger, I read a lot of romance novels, especially in the fantasy genre. I haven’t checked out as many fantasy novels lately and wanted to give this one a try! What kind of books do you enjoy reading? Any recommendations? Also, do you like fantasy or romance novels?
Aside from reading, I brainstormed some future blog post ideas and sipped on an iced coffee!
Spaghetti for Dinner
We cooked spaghetti with marinara sauce and broccoli for dinner that night. I had a craving for spaghetti and it was super tasty! After dinner, we went for a walk and watched YouTube videos. A relaxing Sunday!
I hope that you enjoyed this post, lovelies! Have a beautiful rest of your day! x
How was your weekend? Also, do you like going to the carnival? 🌸
The carnival looks so so much fun!! I haven’t been to one in years! Fab post as always x
Thank you so much, darling!! x And it was such a blast, one of my fav summer memories so far this year!! 💖
This sounds like the perfect weekend! I love going to carnivals but the one we have here every year has gotten really expensive so we’re probably going to pass on it for now. Maybe next year…
I’m craving spaghetti now after reading this post!
It was really fun! Glad we decided to go. They also had it last year, but we didn’t go then! I did notice the food was a bit pricey there. But I gotta say, it was so darn good haha. Fortunately, tickets were a decent price. And spaghetti is always a nice meal and my personal go-to lol! x
Such a cute day out!
Thanks, love!! 💗
Oh my goodness, it looks like you had such a fun weekend! Fair food always gets the best of me. Your food looked amazing!

I love reading thriller/suspense novels most of the time. I haven’t read too many fantasy books!
Fried dough is soooo tasty, one of my favorite desserts. Alejandro never had fried dough before either, and he ended up really liking it! 💖Thriller novels are great!! I gotta go back to the library and check out a couple x
Maybe look for the book Emma in the Night if you do go to the library. 😀 such a good one!

Ooh this sounds dreamy. Although I am a planner- I do agree that sometimes spontaneous plans turn out to be the most fun! 1000%. Maybe because there’s no time for expectations. That carnival looks super cute and I love your outfit 🙂 the ride looks super fun, how cute that you went on the ferris wheel too. That’s like something out of a movie lol! X
Aww, thank you so much for your sweet words, dear! 💓Yeah, I think that’s what it is, just not setting expectations and going with the flow. Those kind of days can be amazing! 💕And I love the ferris wheel. Being so high up and looking out at the town! It felt so surreal and peaceful. 💛
